Other more severe side effects may include; Allergic reactions – rash, itching, hives, swelling, change in vision, dehydration – thirst, dry mouth, dark urine, dizziness, fatigue, gastrointestinal issues – nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, and gassiness, gall bladder problems – stomach pain, heart palpitations, kidney injury – swelling hands or feet, decrease in urine, depression, thyroid cancer.
WHO SHOULD (AND SHOULD NOT) TAKE TIRZEPATIDE FOR WEIGHT LOSS?
The FDA recommends Tirzepatide for weight loss if you meet one of the following criteria:
Have a BMI of 27 or greater and at least one weight-related condition, such as hypertension, Type 2 diabetes, or high cholesterol
Have a BMI of 30 or greater
AVOID TIRZEPATIDE IF YOU…
Have personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer
Are pregnant or nursing
Have kidney or liver failure
Drink alcohol heavily
Have diabetic symptoms of kidney failure, retinopathy, neuropathy unless consult with PCP
Have a history of gallbladder disease
Have a history of pancreatitis
Have a history of multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN2)
BEFORE STARTING TIRZEPATIDE
If you’re considering Tirzepatide for weight loss, your first step should be consulting your primary care physician (PCP). They know your personal and family medical history and can guide you in the best treatment for your condition. If you have diabetes and already take a different medication, talk to your physician about acceptable (and safe) combinations of diabetes medication.
Due to slowed gastric emptying, medication dosages you are taking may need to be adjusted such as thyroid medication. Check with your PCP for this information.
WHERE TO KEEP TIRZEPATIDE ?
Keep out of reach of children and pets.
Store in the refrigerator until ready to use for up to 1 month and then discard. Discard syringes into a sharps container.
WHAT IF I MISS A DOSE?
If you miss a dose and the next scheduled dose is more than 2 days away, take the missed dose as soon as possible. If you miss a dose and the next scheduled dose is less than 2 days away, do not take the missed dose. Take the next dose on the scheduled day. If you miss more than 2 doses, contact your provider for instructions.
