AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR KYBELLA®?
The best candidates for a KYBELLA® treatment are individuals in good overall health. This treatment can be ideal for those who are unwilling or unable to undergo a surgical procedure to remove excess fat under the chin.
KYBELLA® injections cannot be performed if an active infection or certain skin conditions are present in the treatment area. Your skin will be assessed during the consultation to confirm your eligibility for the treatment.
KYBELLA® has not been tested on pregnant or nursing women. Please wait until after childbirth and the nursing period before considering this treatment.

During your KYBELLA® consultation, you will be asked about your cosmetic goals and complete medical history. Please be sure to inform our team of current prescriptions and known allergies to help us plan a safe and effective treatment for you.
The tissue in your chin area will be examined to determine if KYBELLA® is the best treatment for you. KYBELLA® treatments are highly customized to match your objectives and balance the features of your face. The expected outcome of your KYBELLA® treatment will be discussed at this initial appointment to help you visualize the possible results.
HOW IS KYBELLA ADMINISTERED?
Kybella is administered by multiple injections into the fat under the chin. Each in-office treatment session is typically 15-20 minutes. Treatment with Kybella is customized by the medical provider to the patient’s aesthetic goals for an improved chin profile.
HOW MANY KYBELLA INJECTIONS WILL I NEED?
You and your medical provider will customize your Kybella treatment regimen, including how many treatments you need, based on your desired chin profile. Your medical provider will give you multiple injections under your chin at each treatment session. Each session is spaced about 4-6 weeks apart. Many patients experience visible contouring of their chin profile in 2-4 treatment sessions spaced at least 1 month apart. Up to 6 treatments may be administered.
WILL I EXPERIENCE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?
The most common side effects are swelling, bruising, tenderness, numbness, or redness around the treatment area. Kybella very rarely can lead to serious side effects, including trouble swallowing and nerve injury in the jaw that can cause a temporary uneven smile or facial muscle weakness.
HOW LONG WILL THE RESULTS LAST?
When injected into the fat under your chin, Kybella causes the destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat. Therefore, results are long lasting.
